  • NIPS, 2005, 23 sculptures, 100 cm x approx. 30 cm diameter each, latex, plastic granules
  • CUBES/I-V, 2005, 5 wall-objects, 30 x 30 x 30 cm each, latex, foam material

The installation is composed of two different units: sculptures and wall objects. The first unit of the installation is the serial work NIPS consisting of 23 granule-filled sculptures with latex skins, which are irregularly distributed in the room. They stand, sit, lie, or curl up, etc. – although their basic form is identical various positions are possible due to their flexible skins and their granule filling. Triggered by these fillings, the shapes convey an impression of heaviness and slowness – two aspects, which in a fast moving time of ease and light-heartedness post-modern man rather perceives as symptoms of disease.  A high level of performance and efficiency determine the prevalent way of contemporary thinking. This attitude particularly manifests itself in factory farming where the bred material has to bring maximal results on minimal space. A series of five cube shaped foam wall-objects forms the second unit of the piece. The Cubes/I-V are covered with transparent latex coats, which remind us of human skins. A flexible tube of approximately 1-2m length is protruding from the middle of each cube’s frontal part.
